Co-op Month!

Happy Co-op Month! For more than sixty years, cooperatives across the country have used this month to pause and recognize something that’s easy to overlook in the rush of daily life: there is another way to do business. It’s a way where the people who do the work share in the ownership, where decisions are made together, and where success is measured by how well a business serves its workers and it’s community.

This month, we’re celebrating the cooperative movement and everyone who keeps it growing. We’re celebrating the worker-owners who show up every day to build businesses they believe in, often while learning to run them as they go. We’re celebrating our community, the partners, funders, advisors, and allies who have walked alongside us since 2011. And we’re celebrating our neighbors, the families who buy from local co-ops, the friends who tell other friends about them, and everyone who believes Cincinnati’s economy can work better for the people who live here.

We’ll be celebrating all of this together at our Annual Event this Friday, October 16, and we hope you’ll be in the room. Later this fall, we’ll also be launching Business Legacy Cincy, a new campaign to amplify the possibility of transitioning retiring businesses to their employees. If you would like, we’d love to know how you’re celebrating Co-op Month, let us know by tagging @coopcincy on instagram or responding to this newsletter.
