Rhizome is reimagining mental health care with a non-hierarchical, cooperative model that prioritizes sustainability, accessibility, and anti-oppression informed care.

Co-founders Evie Heflin and Nern Ostendorf were inspired to create Rhizome after years of working in traditional mental health settings where they felt devalued, overworked, and restricted by administrative barriers. Frustrated with the lack of autonomy and recognition for their labor, they sought a different approach—one that reflected their deep roots in mutual aid, queer culture, and DIY community values of collective care.
