Shine Nurture Center
Shine’s worker-owners in the summer of 2023.
Shine Nurture Center, a childcare center in Cincinnati’s Mt. Airy neighborhood, officially became worker-owned in January 2022, joining our growing network of co-op businesses.
This was our 1st completed transition of an existing business to worker-ownership. The process began when Shine’s team started our Business Legacy Fund program in 2021.
Shine’s Story
The founder opened Shine in 2015 with the goal of creating a childcare center where children could play outside and eat healthy food.
After Shine developed a solid foundation, with a waiting list that typically includes 75 to 100 children, she decided to pursue a graduate degree. She sold the business to 5 of her former employees.
